Mike Clouse 19 Collaborator, Coach, Co-conspirator in Leadership and Life
As I look back over my career thus far every role I’ve served in, and found great fulfillment and growth within, revolves around serving and supporting individuals in learning, growth and development. For a little over 13 years I worked in higher education, both in academia and on the corporate side of student lending. Within academia I guided students and families through the process of both choosing the school that was “right” for them, as well as putting together their plan to finance their education. My favorite students/families to serve were those who were 1st generation college students. It wasn’t about the “sell”, it was about doing everything I could to equip and guide them through making an often-overwhelming task easier to manage and much more exciting. While at Great Lakes Higher Education I further developed my knowledge and skills around training (development and delivery) and account management. It wasn’t until I arrived at Thirty-One Gifts that coaching and mentoring hit my radar, and I discovered a vocational path that resonates with every fiber of my being. All the learning, skills, strengths and abilities I had been using and building, seamlessly matched up with a purpose that lit me up. This purpose is walking alongside individuals and organizations to guide, equip and empower them in filtering out the noise, gaining clarity and direction around what success means to them, and developing the courage to create and follow their map to get there. I thrive when I’m working alongside others, and I believe I support those around me in thriving as well. As I read back through that it may sound a little corny…but…well…my wife will tell you that’s accurate!
